Background

Judi Figel is a dynamite singer and great pianist who performs a wide variety of music styles in and around the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.  Her repertoire includes pop, jazz, country, light rock, Broadway and standards.  Her fun-loving personality along with strong vocals will captivate an audience to provide high quality entertainment!

Judi can easily perform as a solo singer/pianist and then transition to fronting an 18 piece big band.  She is a soloist for wedding ceremonies and had performed for many years at private clubs in and around the Pittsburgh area with the dance band “Starfire”.  She has also performed with her “Judi Figel Trio/Quartet” in public venues such as: the Pittsburgh Jazz Society, Rhythm House, Penn Brewery, Holiday Inn Meadowlands, LeMont, Wooden Nickel, D’Imperio’s, and Shiloh Inn restaurants.  She has been a featured vocalist with the Trinity Jazz Orchestra big band, she performed at the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, the Byham Theater and has done pre-shows for John Fogerty, John Cougar Mellencamp, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago and Steely Dan at the Post-Gazette Pavilion and the Chevrolet Amphitheater.  She has recorded as a vocalist on several local artists’ albums and has done several commercial spots.  Judi is currently in production on a solo CD project.

Judi is originally from the West Mifflin area and now resides in Penn Hills.  She earned a Bachelor of Music at Oberlin College as a piano major/voice minor specializing in Music Education and a Master of Music Education at Duquesne University.  She has also done post-graduate study in string teaching at Ohio State University and Villanova University.  She is a member of Phi Kappa Lambda (national music honor society), is a Nationally Registered Music Educator and is a member of the American String Teachers Association.  Judi is a full-time string instrument instructor at the elementary level in the Plum Borough School District.  In addition, she has appeared as a piano accompanist at several choral festivals in Pennsylvania for PMEA, WCMEA and others.
